New Beginnings offers training and support for qualified foster parents through a team approach. THis team of educated, experienced clinical staff works directly with families to care for a child at risk. New Beginnings offers extensive training to foster care families. Pre-service training consists of a minimum of 36 hours of training for foster care parents on such topics such as effective parenting techniques, behavior management and discipline. A minimum of 24 hours of training is required on an annual basis.

Foster care consultants make at least weekly contact with the foster families and state workers. The clinical treratment team meets weekly to review the child's progress and make recommendations. Crisis intervention is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

If a family needs respite care, New Beginnings arranges care for up to seven days. Foster care parents also receive two days of respite care per month. Whenever appropriate and possible, foster care consultants help coordinate visits with birth families.
